Darkness
Sometimes part of spreading your wings is dealing with the darkness. This is a struggle I have had most of my life. Most days are great, some not so great, and fewer, dark. Fortunately, because I have a spiritual foundation for my life, I spend a whole lot more time in the greatness that is my life than in the darkness. I am reminded that "without the rain, we would have no rainbows". Right now I am trying to dance in the rain rather than hiding from it. Sometimes I have to force myself to just get out in it.

Accomplishment
I have just finished all of my finals for this quarter and I feel so accomplished! I was raised to not "Blow your own horn" because it can be mistaken for boasting - Well guess what - I don't care if it sounds like boasting! I feel good about finishing my second quarter at the university level and I am enrolled for the Spring quarter too! This is an important factor because I have been side tracked in the past. But I am on track. Yaaaa!!!!!

Entitleists
This is a word that my husband made up - the definition is: Those who feel that they are entitled to something or that the rules don't apply to them. I have many examples of this but let me tell you the most resent encounter with an "entitleist".
I take the Metrolink train to school two days a week. I get to the station about 7:40 am and I don't return until 7:30 pm. When I get back all I want to do is get in my car and go home. Last night I arrived at my home station on time and when I got to my car I was blocked in. I mean "illegally parked" blocked in. Well I looked around thinking there is someone who is picking someone up and they will be back in a moment. After waiting about 10 minutes I honked my horn. I looked around and there was one man on the train platform but he looked right at me and continued walking back and forth so I thought he must be waiting for a train. The next thing I do is call my husband and asked if I should call the police. He said yes. I called the non-emergency number and talked with an officer who was very helpful and said he would send someone out.
I decide to honk the horn a few more times. Well guess what? Train platform guy ambles down with his hands in his pockets and looks around. I asked if it was his car and he flippantly replied "Yeah". I said "You are blocking me in and I have called the police and they are coming to tow you." Well, he took his time, got in his car, never said "Oh I'm sorry" or "kiss my $?#" or anything.
This is a perfect example of an entitleist. Do you have any tales of encounters with entitleists?

Kismet
A while ago I read an article about a woman who had been diagnosed with a dibilitating illness. She was understandably devastated. She received as a gift a journal with colored pencils that she used to help her through her treatment and healing. She suggested everyone get one of these. Well, look what I found...

Passion
I love when I run across something that evokes emotion in me. It reminds me that I am a passionate person and that there are things that I believe in and truly care about.
I think the following link shows a lot of passion and whether you agree with the person or not, I think we can all get behind the message - YES WE CAN!

Debut
Well here it is, my debut post. The title is to remind me to spread my wings and that I can do anything I put my mind to as long as I am willing to do the work. This is a good day to start because it is my granddaughter's 6th birthday. She is one of my most favorite people in the world and she reminds me to spread my wings so that I can be a good example to her.
So today spread YOUR wings - you never know who might be watching!
